Peanuts are oily and shed skins and dust that accumulate on seal jaws. The same skin fragments and fines travel down the forming tube with the product, and a single flake trapped between the two film layers at the moment of closing is enough to open a leak path. Whole kernels are brittle at the same time: every extra drop and every hard transition in the product path turns sound kernels into halves and fines. Gentle dosing minimises breakage, dust management keeps seals reliable, and nitrogen flush with barrier film delays the rancidity that defines shelf life in this category. Oxygen exposure is the variable the packer actually controls, so film structure and flush settings belong in the machine discussion from the start. Peanuts sit in the free flowing granules group and are dosed by weight. Weighing keeps the declared fill honest when kernel size, moisture and bulk density shift between lots and between raw, roasted, salted and coated grades, and it limits giveaway on a high-value kernel. Volumetric cups remain an economical option where the tolerance is wide and the grade is uniform; auger dosing belongs to powders and is not used for whole kernels. In every case the fall from the dosing unit into the bag is kept short and guided, because breakage created above the tube cannot be repaired below it. Format follows the portion. A peanut sachet packaging machine covers single-serve and food service portions that are opened once and emptied. VFFS pillow bags cover retail packs and bulk packs for further processing, and they carry the nitrogen flush and the barrier film most economically. Where a given product lands in that band depends on bag size and dose weight, on how quickly the weigher settles, and on the flush and seal dwell the film needs.
