Salt

Salt is corrosive to machinery and cakes with the slightest humidity — a simple product with two serious enemies. Chloride finds every unprotected surface: ordinary steel, unsealed weld seams and exposed fasteners pit long before the rest of the line is worn out. Stainless, salt-rated contact parts and moisture-barrier films keep lines durable and pours free-flowing. Humidity is the second front. Salt that has taken up moisture in the hopper bridges over the outlet, drags in the dosing chamber and reaches the sealing jaws as a damp crust instead of a clean stream, so the air around the filling head and the barrier quality of the film matter as much as the mechanism itself. The crystals are also mildly abrasive, which is why wear parts on a salt filling machine are specified differently from a machine built for the same weight of a soft powder. Salt belongs to the free flowing granules group, and that decides the dosing method. Volumetric cup dosing fits it best: the crystals flow evenly, fill a cup repeatably and release without packing, so the cycle stays fast and the mechanism stays simple. Fine and iodised grades, and small doses where a few crystals change the declared weight, are metered with an auger, which measures by screw turn rather than relying on free flow alone. Larger doses at the top of the range are handled by weighing, so the target weight is checked rather than assumed. In every case the product path is kept short, closed and dry. Formats follow the market. A salt stick pack machine produces the food-service portion — one pinch on a tray, in a lunch box or beside an airline meal, opening cleanly and staying dry until it does. A salt sachet packaging machine covers catering packs, seasoning kits and sampling, where the flat pack stacks and ships well. Pillow bags take household and kitchen weights at the upper end of the range, where one larger pack replaces many portions. Doses run from 1 g to 1000 g. Output depends on lanes, and lanes depend on pack width: the same machine gives more lanes on a narrow stick than on a wide sachet. CSM1200 reaches up to 960 packs per minute on a narrow pack with 12 lanes, and 480 packs per minute on a wide pack with 6 lanes.
