Liquid Amino Acids

Liquid amino acid supplements are dosed like a pharmaceutical but sold like a beverage shot, and that double identity is what makes them hard to pack. Accurate volumetric filling guarantees label-claim compliance, and high-barrier films protect the actives from oxygen and light. The liquids themselves are thin, sweetened and usually acidified: they wet every surface they touch and leave a residue a sealing jaw cannot close through. One droplet trapped in the seal creates a leaker that only shows up weeks later in distribution, so the product path is arranged to keep liquid away from the seal zone rather than to clean it up afterwards. For a low-viscosity product the appropriate method is volumetric piston filling. A piston displaces the same volume on every stroke, so the dose does not drift as the tank empties and the setting repeats from shift to shift — which is what a label claim requires. At the end of each stroke a shut-off nozzle closes the product path and stops the stringing and dripping that contaminate seals between cycles. Product-contact parts are stainless steel and the wetted path is routed for CIP, because an amino acid solution is a nutrient medium. The format that carried liquid supplements into the mainstream is the stick pack: a single-dose stick fits a gym bag and a daily routine, with no measuring and no cap. Four-side seal sachets are used where the dose sits flatter — in sampling, in pharmacy distribution and in multipacks sold as a monthly course. Typical single doses run 15–20 ml. Output is not the same as cycle rate, because these machines are multi-lane: lane count follows pack width, so a narrow stick yields more lanes than a wide sachet on the same frame. MSM1200 reaches up to 960 packs per minute with 12 lanes on a narrow pack, and up to 480 packs per minute with 6 lanes when the pack is wide — same machine, same cycle rate, different lane count. Selection follows the required output and the pack size, and the same liquid amino acids filling machine can be re-laned when the pack format changes. The buyers are sports nutrition brands, nutraceutical producers and the contract manufacturers who fill for them, along with pharmacy-channel supplement companies moving from bottles to single-dose packs. The same line usually also runs collagen shots, L-carnitine and other liquid single-dose supplements, which is why lane flexibility matters more than a single headline speed figure.
