Baking powder is a reactive blend: moisture starts the very reaction the pack must prevent. Dry-air handling, high-barrier films and precise auger dosing keep the leavening power intact until the pack is opened. The powder is non-free-flowing, so it does not pour on its own — it bridges over openings, compacts under its own weight and takes the shape of whatever holds it. Fine particles cling to sealing jaws, and residue left on a seal line becomes a leak path that lets ambient humidity reach the product later on the shelf. Auger dosing is the method that suits this behaviour, and a baking powder filling machine is built around it. A driven screw takes the powder from an agitated hopper and meters it by rotation rather than by free fall, so the material is moved deliberately instead of waiting for gravity. Volumetric cup fillers depend on a product that flows and settles the same way every cycle, which baking powder does not; a piston belongs to liquids and pastes. With an auger, dose repeatability comes from screw geometry and turn count, while the agitator in the hopper keeps the powder from bridging above the screw. Dry air around the filling zone and product contact parts that can be stripped for cleaning matter as much as the metering itself. Three formats cover most of the demand. The stick pack is a narrow single-dose tube: it holds one recipe's worth of leavening, tears open cleanly and is the format home bakers recognise. The sachet — a flat four-side or three-side seal pouch — carries the same single-bake dose on a wider printable face, which suits retail multipacks and private label. VFFS pillow bags are used where larger household or bakery quantities go into one bag. In every case the film is a high-barrier structure, because the barrier is what protects the leavening power. Typical doses run 5 to 15 g, the single-bake range this product is sold in. Output depends on how many lanes the pack width allows. A CSM1200 on a narrow pack can be built with 12 lanes and reaches up to 960 packs per minute; the same machine on a wide pack runs 6 lanes and up to 480 packs per minute. Lane counts are 6 to 12 on the CSM1200, 3 to 7 on the CSM600 and 1 to 3 on the HSM, so a baking powder packaging machine is specified by pack width and target output together, not by a single headline figure.
