Casein is a slow-digesting milk protein whose powder is notably fine and sticky compared to whey, and that combination is what makes it hard to package. The fine fraction stays airborne long after the dose has dropped, and the same particles settle on sealing jaws and film edges, where they turn into leaking seals and rejected packs. Casein also compacts under its own weight: standing in a hopper it bridges, so the material reaching the dosing screw no longer has the bulk density it had when it was loaded. Agitated hoppers and slow-turn auger profiles prevent compaction, and dust extraction keeps seals clean. Micellar casein and caseinates behave differently from one another, and blends carrying cocoa or lecithin change the flow behaviour again, so a casein protein packaging machine is set up for the actual recipe rather than for casein in general. For dosing, an auger is the sensible choice. A non-free-flowing powder cannot be trusted to fall into a volumetric cup and level itself, and weight-only systems suffer as soon as the product bridges above the outlet. The auger meters by revolution, which keeps the dose repeatable as head pressure in the hopper changes, and a servo-driven screw lets the fill profile slow at the end of the shot so the powder does not fluidise. An agitator keeps the product live above the screw, a shut-off nozzle stops tailing between doses, and checkweigher feedback can trim the screw when weight drifts. Casein runs in three families of pack. On a VFFS line there is no lane multiplication — one cycle is one bag.
