Cocoa is a fine, fatty powder that dusts everywhere and bridges in hoppers as fat softens. It sits in the non-free-flowing group: it does not level itself, it compacts under its own weight, and as ambient warmth softens the cocoa butter the mass turns cohesive instead of pouring — a hopper that emptied cleanly in the morning can arch over its outlet by the afternoon. Fines are the second problem: they drift out of the filling zone and settle on the sealing jaws, and a seal closed through cocoa dust is a weak seal. Aroma is the third, and it depends on the film. Agitated auger dosing with enclosed dust management keeps lines clean, and barrier film preserves aroma. The auger works precisely because it does not wait for the product to flow: the screw meters a defined volume per revolution and drives the powder down the fill tube whether or not it would fall on its own, while the agitator keeps the bed live in the hopper and breaks the bridge before it forms.
