Whey protein is light, aerated and static-prone — it floats as dust and sticks to film surfaces. As a non-free-flowing powder it does not leave a hopper on its own: it bridges over the outlet and carries entrained air, so bulk density drifts between the top and the bottom of a batch and the same volume no longer holds the same weight. The dust that escapes during filling is the second problem, because it reaches the sealing area; a jaw closing on a thin layer of powder gives a weak or leaking seal. Static charge makes both worse by holding particles on the film web instead of letting them fall into the pack. The filling method is therefore enclosed auger dosing with dust extraction, which keeps 30-gram doses accurate and seals clean. An auger meters by screw rotation rather than by a fixed cup, so the dose can be trimmed in small steps as density drifts, and the screw actively moves powder that would otherwise bridge. A servo-driven auger stops cleanly at the end of each shot, which is what keeps powder out of the seal. A volumetric cup does not fill reproducibly with a non-free-flowing powder, and piston filling belongs to liquids and pastes. Extraction at the fill tube pulls the airborne fraction away before it settles on the film. Most whey protein packaging machine projects start with the single-serve stick pack. Single-serve sticks turned protein from a tub product into an anywhere product, and a narrow stick is also the cheapest way to put a new flavour in a customer's hand. Four-side sealed sachets take the same powder when a wider, flatter pack suits retail sampling, subscription boxes or clinical nutrition. VFFS pillow bags cover larger servings and refill packs. In every format, barrier film protects flavour systems, which fade quickly behind a weak barrier. The dose range is 5 to 250 g, from a sample stick to a full retail serving. Output follows lane count, and lane count follows pack width: SPM1200 reaches up to 840 packs per minute with 12 lanes on a narrow stick, while the same machine gives 490 packs per minute at 7 lanes on a wider pack. Lane ranges are HSM 1-3, ARTISTICK 1-5, SPM320 1-8, SPM800 4-12 and SPM1200 7-12.
